Trip to the Bonobo Monkey Sanctuary

This was our first real outing doing something "touristy". We visited this monkey park while Suzan and Gary were here with us. A woman purchased land about an hour or so out of the city and started a program to rescue bonobo monkeys.
The monkeys are kept at the park until they can be re-released to the wild.

It was like watching kids at play. This stick entertained them for a long time.

We were very fortunate to arrive at the park when we did. The owner was just beginning a tour for a group of primate reseachers who were in Kinshasa for a conference. The feeding time just happened to take place shortly after we arrived as well.
